The Brass Baron garden fountains and statuary we offer are made individually by hand in the ancient lost wax method -- a labor- and artistic-intensive process.
A mold is created from an original sculpture. Then, a casting is poured in wax, and this impression is removed and refined. Once encased in a clay mold, the impression is kiln-fired. The wax melts during this process, and is therefore considered "lost." The resulting void is then filled with molten brass. Once hardened, the brass casting is removed from the mold, buffed, polished and patinized to give each piece a verdigris or bronze appearance.
Please note: the handcrafted nature of these amazing creations builds subtle variations in color, finish, shape and even size. Each piece is truly unique.
