Common Name: Siebold's wood fern

Growing Conditions: moist, well-drained soil
Comments: Dark-green, halberd-shaped fronds reaching 8 inches or more. Prominent midveins add to its "wow" look. The new sori (clumps of spores) on the backside start pale green and as they mature to black can be seen through the front of the fronds. Removing old fronds adds to its fresh look, but it is slow to recover when cut back completely.
